First and foremost, Thank you guys for responding/reading to my thread.
How long should the iPhone 3GS take to reset itself to factory system default? I basically mean how many hours should it take for the phone's memory to be erased back to when I bought it.

Hello. For any iPhone, a factory reset via iTunes does not take very long at all. What does take a while is syncing all your music and apps etc back to the iPhone.

If you want the phone set back to default settings i.e brand new completely blank you'll need to restore the phone. Once the device has been restored via iTunes you will be prompted to either restore from backup or to set up as new. Selecting set up as new will effectively be like getting an OTB iPhone 3GS. This process takes around ten minutes, quicker if you already have the .ipsw file on your computer.
