I'm not sure about this but sometimes I clear the cache belonging to the app. Wait for others more knowledgable to advise though before trying it as it does delete important stuff you might want to keep.

Reboot.

Are you having performance problems with the phone or is it just the number you are concerned about? Most people just ignore the number and let the iPhone manage its own memory. It does a fine job. If you are having performance problems that a reboot doesn't fix, you might want to try resetting all settings or restoring.

I think he's talking about storage. The Facebook app is 104mb but it takes up 1GB of storage on my phone. That's a lot of cache with no option to clear it.

Unless facebook implements a clear cache button, there is no way to do it on the phone except to delete and re-install the facebook app. You can do it via your desktop by connecting your phone and using a program like iFunbox.

connect>managing app data>all my apps>facebook

go to library and delete everything in the caches folder. (select first item (folder), scroll to the bottom, hold shift and select the last item, then tap the delete key)

It cleared up about 700mb of space for me.

I actually deleted the Facebook app because of the apparent battery draining issues and the fact that the app apparently tracks stuff. I now use safari to just log on and go from there. Works just fine tbh.

Nope haven't updated the app as I gave up on it when they reported the tracking issues and the fact allegedly it could use your microphone etc etc. The safari log in works just fine for me so I'll stick with that.

As far as what you mentioned, it will ask for your permission first, such as using your microphone.

Yes and I appreciate you saying' but I just don't trust it anymore as an app. So I'm happy to stick with safari login. Works fine for me.
