Not sure about the PC side of things, but these directions (via Crunchgear) enabled tethering for me in less than 5 minutes. Today really did shape up to be a good day.

Nice, I cant try it now but it looks like you just use terminal to change the settings in iTunes to allow carrier updates again lol.

couple of notes:

- type that command in ONE line. The way it's formatted there, it kinda looks like there's a line break.

- if you have iTunes open when you run the terminal command, you must restart iTunes for it to take effect.

you shouldn't need netshare, right? the functionality is built into the OS now.
Well I say that in anticipation of some sort of carrier update that could get around the "fix". Wouldn't it be great if AT&T enabled MMS but in the same carrier update they disabled tethering (if that's even possible of course).

All of you who now have tethering unlocked, will notice that your visual voice mail does not work anymore. You either get tethering or visual voice mail. I don't recommend doing this trick to unlock tethering. That is just me though.

if iTunes was open while you ran the terminal command, quit and restart iTunes.

ok, sounds like you're typing those terminal lines in two lines. type it ALL in one line (ie no enter after the "com.apple.iTunes").

if the command runs properly, you will get no output in terminal. just a new line.
