This is a quick guide on how to make Groups in Contacts using
Address Book in WindowsXP.

For Vista users using Outlook 2007 Check out this
post by @princess_80854
http://forums.everythingicafe.com/threads/outlook-2007-contacts-selected-groups.5149/

Navagate to your Address Book
Start/All Programs/Accessories/Address Book

This will bring your Address Book up.

Then you will go to File [top left] and select New Group

From there another window will open where we will enter
the name of the group, in this case EIP was entered. Then
select "OK."

And now you have your new Group [EIP, in this case.]
Sync your iPhone and have fun.

As you can see in the above image, you can set up multiple Groups.
I have learned that Custom Folders do not show up within the iPhone, but
the Groups in those Folders are listed as if they were not in a folder
at all.

Thanks, and feel free to correct me if I have made any mistakes.

Now I haven't tried this yet, but are you saying these 'groups' of contacts show up in the iPhone? Can they be selected to send, say, a mass SMS to?

I created a Group of Groups in the Apple Address Book but it doesn't show up in the iPhone.

Yes they show up in the iPhone in the Contacts menu, you will see
on the top left a button named Groups.

Group of Groups....
I don't think I am following you. A new folder with groups within the folder
perhaps?

To some maybe, to others maybe not. :)

I am running Vista and Outlook 2007. When I go into accessories I do not have an option for address book. For some reason I thought that if you only had a windows address book if you were using Outlook Express. Any ideas? Thanks

I have a question about the iPhone GROUPS in iPhone CONTACTS discussion--my contacts are in Outlook 2003 (and mirrored of course in my iPhone contacts--sweet!), but they don't exist in Address Book (Windows XP). I seem to be able to create a group in the Address Book following the directions I've read here, but then Address Book says "select contacts" ... and there aren't any! Is there some way to link Address Book to my Outlook 2003 contacts so that I can implement this routine, that people here are discussing, to create groups in my iPhone contacts? I really wish it was possible to create groups in my iPhone directly or in Outlook 2003.

How to populate the new group

OK. Following your directions, I was able to create a new group. But I don't want to have to reenter the data from my general contacts. I have over 3,000 contacts, and the new group is for the new car that apparently will download when my iPhone is first connected. However, the salesman told me it would take far fewer than 3,0000, so Iwant to populate the new group with fewer. I'd even be willing to popoulate it with my very short Favorites list in my iPhone.

Help!
