How to prevent from inadvertently deleting apps?

Will Apple act on this. I had an app to keep passwords which I had not backed up for a while. While holding my iPhone I deleted it with it's data by mistake. What's the best way to prevent against this. Will Apple include a lock on the apps to prevent against this in the next OS?

You already have to hold it down, hit the "X" and then confirm that you want to delete it. I couldn't see Apple including any more steps.

I agree. Does take some specific actions to delete an app. Kinda of like a phone reset. Asks you three times before it does it.

Go to settings-general-passcode lock. Set a password. Then go to restrictions. Enable restrictions and uncheck 'deleting apps' button. Thts all.

Very cool! I'm amazed that I STILL learn new things about the iPhone.

Thank you all. I don't know how I misses the "Deleting Apps" option in "Restrictions". Jitu78's answer worked.

Interesting! I didn't know that either!
