Are you Jailbroken? Maybe with one of the VNC service apps you can do a screen cap from your computer.

VNC is a remote control type app which allows you to remote control your iPhone from your computer by displaying the iPhone's screen on the computer's screen. "Veency" on Cydia is one. I haven't used it yet.

You'll also need a VNC app on your computer so you can connect. RealVNC has a free edition for Windows. I don't know if anybody has a free one for Mac. RealVNC can be downloaded from http://www.realvnc.com/.

You'll also need to be able to find your iPhone's IP address so you can find it from your computer over Wifi. Install WhatIP from Cydia to do that.

I'm curious too. I did find this article which mentions that the author's iPhone VNC session screen "went dead whenever my iPhone's autolock kicked in". However he has a screen cap of a locked phone right in the article so obviously it's somewhat possible - I think he just couldn't unlock the phone from his computer.

You can do it through SSH. Install "UIkit Tools" from Cydia, reboot, and SSH into the phone as mobile, not root. Lock the phone, press the home button, and type the command "uishoot". The shot will be in your camera roll.

Thanks, Lincoln! This was the answer I was also looking for, and it worked!

No problem. Much simpler that doing it through VNC, in my opinion.

Thanks it looks easier but it's still unclear to me as I am no programmar...

What do you mean by "SSH into the phone as mobile, not root"? Does you mean username "mobile" and password "alpine"? Or do you mean that once inside the phone I should navigate to "mobile"?

type the command "uishoot" - I use WinSCP, is there a way to type a command with this?

Thanks in advance for your help

That's exactly what he means, seb... After getting UIkit Tools, login as mobile/alpine then open the terminal (ctrl-T or from the "commands" menu) and type uishoot once you have your phone with a lit lock screen and it should capture to your camera roll.

I think. Haven't tried it. Nice tip, though linc.

wow. you guys are making this waay too difficult...
Now, if I'm not mistaken, you want to take a screenshot of your lockscreen that shows up when you press the home or sleep button correct..? If so, just press the home and sleep button as you would anywhere else on your iPhone. You will hear the camera sound and it will be in your camera roll... You can even take a screenshot of your passcode screen.

This is an old thread. Back before they added native screenshot capability.
