Been curious about this feature in the new iOS 8 maps, and I finally found out how to do it.
First off, it only works with the following cities: New York, San Francisco, San Jose, Glasgow (UK), Barcelona, Rome and Paris. I tried it with New York, NY, and it was pretty sweet. Go to maps, choose a city, and choose 'hybrid' view. You'll see the name of the city below the label and it should be in yellow text. Tap on the yellow text and you'll see another label. Choose 'Tour', and your flyover tour will begin. What do you think?

This didn't work for me in iOS 8, but does work well in iOS 8 beta 2.

Wow. I tried NY, NY and it is very cool. I have to ask though - how is the 'tour' put together? Does each city just have a set flyover path predefined by Apple engineers? Or is it based on crowd sourced info? Either way, it seemed to hit Statue of Liberty, Central Park, and Time Square before I turned it off.

All flyovers work for me on my iPad 3 except for the two California towns. Weird. The city names don't appear in yellow for San Jose and San Francisco.

Just did the San Francisco tour. Pretty impressive. I loved the detail on Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge.
