Anyone else in South Florida? How are you preparing? Are you evacuating, or are you going to take it like a man?

I was thinking about you the past couple days. What are your plans?

I've been thinking about you as well, Raf. Stay safe, bud. I wish you and all the other Florida and coastal people here the best.

On a lighter note, I just saw this comedy bit about all of those who are thinking about hunkering down in Florida.

Jeez. Even when you give me a normal, rational thread title, you still make me moderate it by moving it. ;)
I don't see why my thread wasn't allowed to remain in Off Topic like all the other hurricane threads?!?

That really blows!

Get it? "Blows"? LOL.

Keep us updated, Rafagon. I'm thinking about you. I checked out the current weather conditions in Miami as soon as I woke up and it was starting to get pelted. How far inland are you?

Looks like my area is in direct path now :-(
No plywood to be found... we are as prepared as we can be. After going through Charley in 2004, lived in Port Charlotte, I am not looking forward to this at all!!

Been thinking about you too, Scott. I wasn't sure what part of FL you're in, but I was hoping you weren't in the path. Best wishes!

I'm just South of Tampa / St. Petersburg
At least the storm surge 'shouldnt' be an issue in my area. It's the sustained winds I'm worried about.

Yeah. Hopefully it won't be too bad.

I've been there. Nice area. I think we stayed at the Showboat hotel. Met Mickey Rooney in the hallway.

How long before it's supposed to pass your area?

Will do!

I'd guess about 5 miles inland or so? It's blowing hard out there right now!

The worst is supposed to be around 2am Monday morning from the last news I watched.

I just read that a Miami woman deleivered her own baby because emergency crews couldn't get to her. Whoa.

How are you doing, @Rafagon? Still have power? Hang in there, it looks like Irma's almost ready to stop beating up Miami.

Thank you for asking! I am fine, the neighborhood where I live now did just fine. We are still without power. I charged my phone at the parking garage of the Metrorail (rapid transit train) station near me. A bunch of people were doing the same thing there.
