I've had an iPhone since like day 1, and it's been awesome, but now I am getting more and more into texting, so I bought the $20 Unlimited texting plan, but with the iPhone requiring $20 for data plan already, the bills getting too heavy for me (I am a teenager so yes...)

just last week, I switched to a BLACKBERRY CURVE, and canceled the $20 iPhone data plan..

but i kind of miss the iPhone, but the question is.. IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN KEEP MY iPhone AND NOT PAY THE $20 DATA PLAN (i don't need the iPhone internet features or the data features) and I would rather have the $20/unlimited plan on it..

is there any way to have the iPhone with a $20 unlimited text plan and not the data plan?

please help anyone with any knowledge whatsoever, thank you.

IIRC you can call up AT&T and turn off the $20 internet plan. I know a while ago a bunch of people tried it and were successful. I'd give AT&T a call and find out.

I have 600 minutes and texts a month for £35 (the lowest plan O2 offers), and that is plenty of texts for me. How many do you have?

Well 600 text when you get charged 1 per sent and received. So basicly you've only got about 300 (if each on you send you get one back from the receiver). Thats only 10 a day, not very much really. I usually send 50-100 text a day.

But to the OP, I know your a teen but $20 a month more when your already paying $80 is not too serious of a jump. How old are you/do you have a job? Or just don't wanna pay the extra $20?

Ahh, here is a solution for you my son...

1. Jailbreak phone
2. Download Bossprefs
3. Disable EDGE within Bossprefs
4. Call up AT&T and cancel unlimited internet

If AT&T says no, can't do that, then take any old phone you have that has texting capability, copy its IMEI# down, and switch your iPhone's IMEI with that. The carrier will think you have a (insert phone brand here) and you will be good to go!

haha 600 texts and you think you are an addict? I'll tell you what, I thought 200 would be plenty for me. The first month I made it, but it was hard, so I upped to the 1500 plan. Well by the forth of the month (2 days into my billing cycle) I was 1300 texts, obviously that was NOT going to work. Now I am on unlimited and well, I am never less than 4000 and frequently in the 6000 range.

Could you not just take the sim card out of the blackberry and stick it in the iPhone?

AT&T is just about THE most expensive. My bill is $190 a month, before any taxes and fees. I have three lines. And I only have the 550 min/plan with unlimited N/W starting at 7pm.

1. iPhone
2. iPhone
3. N95

I pay the $30 for unlimited text/IM family. So that's $90 extra just for the unlimited internet and unlimited text/IM. If T-Mobile had decent coverage in my area you know I would be all over that T-Zones plan!

Ok, for comparison sake, My wife and I have the cheapest iPhone plan (450 shared minutes between us) with the basic data and text plan (200 text each) and our bill is consistently around $105 after all the taxes and crap.

Whats your monthly bill? mine is $59.99 ($39.99 + $20.00 Data plan). Is it cheaper in Philly?

Ya know what, I'm looking at bills before my wife got her iPhone (just a few weeks ago), so we're about to go up $15 a month (she didn't have a data plan before, but paid $5/mo for 200 texts which now come with her iPhone data plan)

But my basic plan is $45+20 for data. So apparently it's more expensive for me? Not sure why that would be. Here's the breakdown:

Main line (mine): 45+20
Wife line: 15+20

equals $100. Add on all the taxes and crap, and we'll be around $120 on our next bill

Read your earlier post and thought what's going on. We have 2 iPhones and my bill is $111.19 every month.

Yeah well now I need to call AT&T and figure out why I'm paying $5 more a month than every other iPhone basic plan user.
