As I did stupid thing last time when I upgraded my 4S to iOS 6 I didn't know that this will disable my wifi and Bluetooth permanently. My wifi and Bluetooth were greyed out and I had to swap my phone at the Genius Bar. BUT I will be cautious this time and won't upgrade until I get green signal from the people on this forum. :)

Updating the firmware is fine. If the Genius Bar swapped it out for you, it wasn't software-related; it was a hardware problem.

This was problem related with software because it happened just after upgrading. And it was not me alone who suffered, million people suffered. You can search Apple Forums for that.

Each and every trick and method failed. Even people at Genius Bar were clueless. They had no option other than to swap the phone with refurbished phone. Apple couldn't get into the deep cause behind it. Interestingly, this problem affected 4S phone mostly than others. Even 5S were affected too in some cases.
