I have been thinking about jailbreaking my iPhone 3g but get scared of the thought of a $200 paper weight (aka i screw the thing up) If i jailbreak my iPhone can i without fail, 100% for sure, just hit restore in iTunes and it will be back to normal?

Awesome! Whats the difference between the QuickPwn and PwngeTool?
this article says i need it http://sleepers.net/2008/11/23/22-quickpwn-pwnage/
but this one dosent http://www.installerapps.com/jailbreak/
QuickPwn is for both Windows and Mac, and PwngeTool is for Mac only. Personally I would use QuickPwn - but take a look here: GOLDEN RULE: If you have a 3G iPhone and want potential soft unlock in the near future do NOT use QuickPwn, and do not use the official ipsw or the iTunes update process without using PwnageTool.

What do they mean when they say:
.."NOT use QuickPwn, and do not use the official ipsw or the iTunes update process without using PwnageTool."

What is the official ipsw..im confused,...I want to unlock it in the future, so im trying to use pwnagetool...im just trying to figure out how and which ipsw I should download

Use pwnage tool and the 2.2 IPSW (2.2.1 has a base band update that can make it more difficult to unlock) if you are considering unlocking in the future. Download and save it to your desktop then restore.
