Like HUGE
ok I'm not huge but I am out of shape. Used to do sports on high school but since I've graduated college and procured a soul-crushing job I've been lazy and inactive.

ANYWAY

I want to start running. I used to be fast but now I've lost the "s". I have however noticed that there are 2 highly recommended apps for the iPhone; Zombies, Run! & RunKeeper.

Main question: can I use the two apps at the SAME time?

I want to play the zombie game while having RunKeeper track my progress.

Possible?

I believe it is. I started with Runkeeper. Later added some other apps and could run them simultaneously. Never used the zombies, although I have heard of it.

I currently use primarily iSmoothRun, which posts to my Runkeeper account.

Good to know.

I'm a big The Walking Dead fan so I'm hoping this would kindof put some fun in my run... #lamepuns

RunKeeper seems like a good app to start with too but to be honest I haven't used either.

And unfortunately I won't be able to test either app until next week :/

Wish my UP band by jawbone still worked :(

Try MapMyRun...

I cycle daily and before I got a cycling GPS computer (Garmin Edge 500) I used MapMyRide for years...

All the MapMy***** apps are great and work well...

I use the stock Nike Plus app and tomorrow's run will but me over 1,000 recorded miles in just over 3 years. The next advice I have is to download My Fitness Pal and start monitoring what you eat so you can learn what the biggest bang for your calorie intake will be. A combination of of these apps will melt your weight off.

Any app that sends daily notifications helps me for habits I am trying to break, or new things I am trying to train myself to do.

Keep us updated on your progress. You got this!

I have downloaded most of these apps and can't wait to try them out!

Well, I'm more excited to try the apps than the actual RUNNING but I'm hoping I can get addicted.

I have ran a 5k before but not competitively(I ran with my mom, but I also ran it backwards.... Lol)

Anyway my goal is to have at LEAST an average time for 5/10/15 kilometers-- and if I actually like running, I'd like to try a half marathon.

I'll try and use all the apps and see which ones work best for me but also post my experiences.

I feel like my phones going to be dead by the end of the run heh

It was too hard to use them all at once so I just used RunKeeper.
Overall satisfied with the app but saddened by my shape.

Today was my 2nd run-- ran better than my first day back. Not back at my minute mile from 2006 but I also didn't die so that's a plus.

Hate the new headphones for running. They may fit your ear better but they fall out just as well.

Tomorrow is day three and I'm trying to beat each days record for the mile so "there's always tomorrow"

Just remember you didn't get out of shape overnight so the same is true for getting back in shape and taking the weight off. You sound like you have an awesome attitude and that will lead you to your weight loss/fitness goals :)

It's a year later. Just wondering how your goal has been coming along?
