Anyone else experiencing imessage photos/videos that don't delete after the requisite 2 minutes?

Let me preface by saying yes I'm doing it w another person on ios8 and yes I'm talking about the photos/videos when you hold down the camera icon, not normal photos you insert.

Thanks!

I haven't tried that yet. Just sent one to my Wife. We'll see.

Yes, both delete from our messages. I'll try sending to myself.

I sent a video and an audio to my husband and it deleted from both our phones after 2 mins, but taking a pic that way, it did not delete.

The sent video deletes, but the received video does not. The received video does not have the "keep" option when sending to yourself. It will work when you send to another person. To delete those you sent to yourself, long press on the video and choose "More". Then mark on the left side. It will show blue. Then tap the trash can then delete message.

Ok so I'm not alone! It's weird sometimes they'll delete and sometimes not. Pictures not really ever.

Thanks so much for experimenting w me

You can't take a pic that way. Not by pressing on the camera. It's done the same way it's been. You tap on the camera for the options. It's not the same "vanishing" feature. Only the videos and the audios done by long pressing the mic and the camera will work that way.

If you press and hold the camera button it gives you the option of taking a video or a picture. The option to take a pic is at the top, if you take a pic it will immediately insert it and send it to whoever you're texting.

And while they don't seem to vanish they also don't save to device from what I can see.

You're right. But there is no "keep" option for sent or received photos. So I'm guessing the auto delete is just videos and audios.

I noticed that too. I'm not sure I like that pic feature, you need to make sure you know exactly what you're sending as you have no chance to change your mind about the pic you just took :)

Yes, you can save the videos and photos. Tap the photo or video like always, then tap the arrow and select "save image". Worked on my iP 5.

It's the same with choosing from the cam roll. If you don't enter in a text first, then when you select a photo, it gets sent without having to hit send.
