The price of the technology has gotten $400 cheaper in one single year? Even with adding 3G and GPS? I still can't believe how bad we all got raped on iDay by Apple.

yes. I'd like $300 more refunded to me. I still have the $100 credit they gave me last year.

Don't forget our $100 rebate credit. But you're right; $300 to go from our early adopter price of $500 for an 8GB iPhone to $200 for the 8GB iPhone 3G is an expensive price to pay for a year's worth of use.

well the data plan is 10 bucks more now so factor that in. Over the course of 3 years and 4 months the price of the phones become equal.

We still got raped, but that's the price you pay to be first sometimes. I still can't believe the price has dropped as much as it has in only a year. I figured with the iPhone being locked into one carrier for 5 years that price drops would be slow to non existent.

I don't consider that $100 rebate making our iPhones only $500. We paid a full $600 to Apple since the $100 rebate went straight back in their pockets anyway. The 8GB iPhone went from $599 to $199 in one single year. That is downright shocking, I can't believe I trusted them that the technology really was that expensive in June 2007.

This is one of the reasons I decided to make over $3000 selling unlocked iPhones on eBay. I definitely made my money back that Apple screwed me out of. They laughed at me for forking out $600 on iDay, and then I got on eBay and laughed right back at them 5 times harder.

I guess they're sacrificing their marketing model for share growth. By allowing subsidizing, they'll sell iPhones to the masses and the early adopters get the hose pipe.

Right after iDay and they took the thing apart it was widely reported that Apple was making 200-300 dollars on every iPhone sold. I'm guessing you bought it on iDay, but anyone after that has no excuse.
