I searched around a bit (though not very hard since I'm at work) for a thread to answer what is probably a tried-and-true question but couldnt find one. Does anyone know of a program or a planned add-on from Apple that will allow the usage of instant messaging services (such as AIM and YIM) on the iPhone that does not utilize SMS text messages?

It does it all, and its web based, no need to install any programes
Or use your SMS (text messages). Here is what it supports.

Aim /.mac
Google talk
ICQ
Jabber
Windows Live
Yahoo!

And it looks pretty decent, i like it a lot !

I'm not sure what you mean by "it does it all". It doesn't do background notifications. Unless I'm actually on Safari (which I'm not unless I need something), I don't get notified of an incoming IM.

I meant it as.. it does most of the Instant messenger programs

I know it doesn't have all the features of the real program
but it does what i need it to do..

Which is send and receive messages
