Alert! Bug found! Caution!!

In the Bedtime tab of the Clock app, it asks me which sound I want to hear when I wake up, and it displays a list. Yet, tapping on the different sounds does not let you hear a preview of what it’ll sound like.

I ended up selecting “First Light” having no idea what it will actually sound like. I guess I’ll have to wait till tomorrow morning to find out if I like it or hate it!

You should work for a news outlet as their Over dramatic headline writer ;)

Tried going into the sounds area of your device and listening to a preview there?
I just did now (thanks for the tip), but those sounds aren’t listed there at all. Or at least, I couldn’t find them. A bunch of ringtones and text tones but none of those wake-up sounds.

I even went back into the Bedtime screen to change the sound to another one, and still, no audio preview whatsoever.

For all I know, “Droplets” could be the sound of droplets of my blood leaving my body after being injured by a cactus plant. “Birdsong” could be a pterodactyl humming a savage heavy metal tune. And I surely wouldn’t want to wake up to either of those sounds!

Select a sound at your own risk—you’re going to have to wake up to it tomorrow!

Speaking of beta and all that, I was upgrading throught the beta portion of iOS 10. I last updated on Friday of last week I believe. When I go to the software update screen on my phone now, it says I'm on iOS 10.0 and does not offer me an update. I'm seeing something about there being a 10.0.1. What should I be on?

Did you delete your beta profile? I'm wondering if that would help.

I would check on iTunes on your computer. But no worries if it doesn't show up as an update there. The iOS 10 final build is 14A403 and is technically versioned as 10.01, making it the same same release as the iOS 10 GM.

Here’s a previously existing bug, still not fixed in iOS 10.

Go to Settings and search for a setting. Any one will do. Switch out of the Settings app and use your phone normally for a few minutes. Be sure to switch between apps a few times and maybe launch some new apps.

When you switch back to Settings, you will notice that your search is still there, but it has shifted upwards and now appears caddywhompus!

So just before I was about to head out for lunch, my phone recognized the need for the upate. The download of the file began, and had probably been going for 5 minutes, showing "about an hour remaining" when I left for lunch. I know there's some risk going from wi-fi to LTE and back to wi-fi while downloading something like this, but I decided I was willing to take that chance. Biked home for work and the download continued throughout. When it got time to leave to come back to work, it was showing about 9 minutes remaining still. Headed off, got back to work, and within 10 minutes of arriving, the download has completed. And so now, the installation is in progress.

Update: The bug I described earlier, about not being able to hear a preview of the Wake Up Sounds, isn't a bug at all. The sounds are in fact played, but they fade in very slowly, and you have to give them time before they become audible.
