My sister in law has an iPad 2. Recently the iPad has been freezing, locking up just like a Windows 95 PC. It only responds to a soft reset. Sometime when it freezes the screen looses a line of pixels, other times it gets stuck in between screen shots-half on one app, half on the other. I suspect it is a hardware issue. Perhaps memory. Any suggestions on why this is happening? She has not installed anything new. She says that it crashes on a puzzle game and the You Tube app consistently. The puzzle app was removed without success of fixing the problem.

    Thanks in advance.

    Try in this order:
    1. Hard reset
    2. Reset all settings
    3. Restore to factory settings

We did all three and 2- minutes of use showed same results. With no apps it personal data, it froze.

She has had it 5-months. We did talk to Apple and after all this, they said they'll replace it. I think it's hardware. Something has come lose on the board. Its odd I'll grant you, but makes the iPad unusable. Always been cased and has had no damage. it's the one in a million.

    Thanks for the replies!
