Just got a 64 iPad air and like it very much. Only thing is, when I take a photo, it never seems bigger than 1.6 megapixels. Isn't there some way to set it to shoot at more megapixels?

You could try a good camera app. ProCamera 7 is on sale for the holidays at $1.99. Regular $4.99.

There's a lot that can affect photos, including lighting, focus and etc.

Which camera did you use to take the picture? The front facing camera is rated at 1.2MP and the rear facing camera is 5MP. Also, how you transfer the photo from the iPad has an effect on the size of the transferred photo.
