iPhone 3G speakers - only 1 works?

I got my 3g via DF yesterday, and I noticed that the speakers only produce sound from 1 of them (in my case the left lower speaker). The right speaker has no sound coming from it. I test this by holding my finger over the left speaker which mutes 95% of the sound. I can put my ear to the right speaker and hear nothing. Is this intended by design, or a defect? Thanks.

This is the way the 2g works as well. The "speaker" in the lower right corner is the microphone, not the speaker.:)

Welcome to EIC! As Avelek has already responded, there is only one speaker on both versions of the iPhone. This is pretty much the number one question asked by newbies on the forum - here is one example where this was recently asked. You'll find many answers to your questions by searching first instead of starting a new thread.

Ack, I'm a very avid forum browsing for a variety of topics, and I just committed Noob 101 by not searching. Thanks for the quick replies!
