I listed my old iPhone 4 32 gig black on eBay and it sold in 11 min! I listed it for $300 plus shipping and paypal fees buy it now was too cheap?
I listed it a week or so ago and it sold but the buyer backed out :(
    This guy paid immediately :)

I look at it as covering the price of my upgrade!

eBay is always a crapshoot. Identical phones can have a $50-$100 swing. Just depends on whose bidding at the time.
The thing is eBay fees are 9% of the total selling price so you came close to breaking even. Gotta be happy with that I guess. I have one on eBay that ends Sunday. I hope to get $350 so I clear $300 after all the fees.

You need to unlock it to get more, there are 16gb versions selling for $400+
International shipping also adds substantially more

I would much rather do that but I've had absolutely no luck with Craigslist in my area. People want you to give the phone away.

No question that Craig's is mainly bargain hunters (including me :)), but I have had a lot of success with all my iPhones.
Edit: Actually, my first contact was from someone who wanted to trade for a Ruger .38! ( might have been a good deal!)

I've always liked the idea of eBay over Craigslist -- let those international bidders work against each other. Jailbroken/unlocked is a must. I normally list my auctions for five days, but when I sold my 16GB 3GS (with the normal hairline crack on the back near the port) for $300, I listed it for 10 days, allowing them to build interest leading up to that last hour (which is when all the action happens).

I was very pleased for selling my 3GS for $300 (when it's now offered for free).
