So I got my 6s earlier and I can't get iMessage to activate. Any suggestions?

My coworker had the same problem. Try resetting network settings. It seemed to work. He also then had to call Apple Support.

Are you beta testing 9.1? I'm wondering if that has something to do with it.

No stock software on 6s plus. Did do the little update it had though

My coworker said that they told him the servers were overloaded yesterday and it took time to catch up. His is working as well. I think it is an iDay problem.

Are messages being handled by an Apple server? I thought they were handled by your phones carriers system.

Is the iMessage an Apple App. you need to get to use?
No, it's been a stock feature for about five years. If you have iMessages enabled and the contact you are corresponding with also has an iDevice with it enabled, the messages will use WiFi or data and go through Apple's servers. You can get delivered and read receipts on these. If the person you are texting has an Android, it will go through the carrier. Texts are green. iMessages are blue. There are several advantages to iMessages, one of which is that they will work in Airplane mode with WiFi on.
