So with the iP7 and iOS 10 will you have to use the Touch ID print or have a pass code to make it work?

Right now I have neither but since there will be no slide to open I'm not sure what will be 'required'.

You can still use a passcode on iOS 10 on an iPhone 7/7 Plus. There's just a different way of invoking the keypad (press the home button) since the left slide gesture brings up widgets now. Also, if it doesn't recognize the fingerprint or it's it's been too long since you've used the phone or Touch ID, you'll have to put in a passcode just like we have to now.

It says "Press Home to Unlock" on iOS 10 (if you don't use Touch ID).

This is what you see when you slide to the left.

Dayum. Even being on the beta, I hadn't made this connection.

But it's true. All of it.

So then it looks like you have to press the home button twice. Once to unlock and then again to get to your apps. No?

It will work just like it does now, except the button won't actually depress.
