iPhone as option in contacts?

Greetings!
Have noticed on some of my contacts, I have the option of selecting iPhone for a particular #.
Odd thing is, it's not available for all, and not nessacarily actually assignable to contacts with an iPhone.
I'm I missing something obvious?
Best,

Best,
It should be available to all.

It's not there for all:

2 different contacts, one has iPhone option, one does not.
Unlocked and JB 3GS 4.2.1 flashed with iPad firmware.

Something seems amiss. Maybe corrupted?

Sent from my iPhone 4 on AT&T using iCafe app

Do you have a normal mobile number for the contact without the iPhone option ? Or is it saved as a home number? Because once you put in a mobile number and save. The iPhone option then becomes available.

Thought it may have something to do with old contacts created under old firmware or even syncd from email.
Just created new test contact, and it was not available....

Its nothing really to worry about. Its probably just a setting somewhere, its onlylike, a tag.... it doesn't mean you cant put an iPhone number in your phone

Whats the point of the iPhone option? Just for organization?

The condescending replies are hilarious and your responses are absolute GOLD!
Even though I have the same question/problem, I am following this thread for your answers to the Others.

Best,
This is most funny! It changes the thing to FaceTime option but in the phone type options iPhone remains missing. Just one of those quirks, I reckon!

Seeing that the thread is over 5 years old, I doubt there will be much traffic in it ;)
