iPhone constantly asking for iTunes password to upgrade apps

Whenever I try to install an upgrade for an already installed app, my iPhone 5 asks for my iTunes password, however, my iPad 3 (WiFi only version) does not. Both are running iOS 7.1.1 and it doesn't matter which device is upgraded first for the same app, the Phone always asks for the password and the iPad does not. Anyone have any ideas why? It's not really a big deal just an irritating inconsistency.

Well DUH! I think I just answered my own question. I re-enabled in-app purchases in the phone; it was enabled in the iPad but not the phone. I'll see if that does it.

I just updated the HiDef Radio app and no password needed, so I guess it's confirmed, the above worked.
