My friends,
When I open Contact App and wants to search for a contact the contact search does not work. Suppose I search for "John" by writing "Jo" it will return empty field. Please help. I have iPhone 6s with the latest iOS.

What have you tried so far to correct the problem?

I did almost everything there is to do.
1) went into settings check spotlight search, contacts is already checked.
2) somebody mentioned check and uncheck group contacts but unfortunately I do have that option.

Did you try a hard reset? Holding down the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple logo appears then let them both go. When the phone finishes rebooting try searching for a contact again and see what happens.

I have done that over and over again and that may not be the problem.

Try unsyncing your contacts and syncing them back on.

Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calandars, tap on your Gmail Account, and then toggle off contacts. Select "Remove from iPhone" when it asks. Then reboot and toggle it back on. Test to see if you can search for contacts after the reboot.
