If you are an owner of any iPhone domains which were bough on and or after 1-9-2007, be prepared for the Apple legal team to come after you. They have already come after us, and we have had to re-brand our site from themeiPhone.com to thememyphone.com.

Below are links to some more info:

I would prepare for the worst..
Sorry to hear that. Looks like you've retained ownership of your domain which is great. Best of luck with your site.

Yep, this really suck --- I feel your pain. We rebranded myiPhone.com after I got that friendly advice from steve jobs. The first link in this post says it all.

I really don't think the date has anything to do with it. They're going to go after everyone.

Really sorry man.

Apple owns the iPod trademark and there are a laundry list of domains using iPod including:
iPodObserver.com, iPodHacks.com and EverythingiPod.com.

Those are all pretty big sites in their own right.

Personally, I think Apple takes issue with sites that infringe upon their trademarks/properties. No disregard to the OP, but there are numerous sites that have cropped up and utilize Apple's properties (Apple logo, iPhone image) in their logos. These sites diminish their brand and I could see Apple having a problem with them.

Are they looking to shut down publishers and independent communities --- I'm not so sure, but I'd venture to say no. At least not the ones that abide by their rules.

thememyphone, did you get a c&d from Apple? Care to share it?

Chris, we'll know in the next 6+ months to see how Apple will handle this. Again, Moto chased after me for motorazr.com and lost (they even own the trademark motorazr). I think Apple will try multiple tactics - not just going through arbitration, that's just not their style.
