This thing is so friggging cool. In fact, I'm posting on my Mac right now, typing from my iPhone, via Touchpad.

The mouse works great, scrolling works, typing works, it's all there. The iPhone has now replaced my mouse and keyboard.

For anybody else wanting to do it on a Mac:
• In Tiger, go into System Preferences > Sharing, and turn on Apple Remote Desktop. Click Access Privileges. Then select VNC users may control screen with password, and enter a password.

• In Leopard, go into System Preferences > Sharing and turn on Screen Sharing. Click Computer Settings and select and enter a password for the VNC option.

• Open Touchpad and create a new server. Enter your Mac's IP given in System Preferences, name it, and enter the password.

I don't see the benefit of this app at all other than "Why? Because I can" to be honest. I just can't find a practical use for this outside of a Media Center PC.

The coolness factor is a large part of it, absolutely. But I have PhotoBoard on my phone for the same reason; because it's so neat.

However, it's also neat to open a connection and mess with thins when other people are using the Mac. I did it today when my brother was using it, and he was going nuts. 'What... what the hell is up with this mouse?!?' :p

sorry for reviving this thread but i just found out how to do this
i have actually been looking for a vnc client to use and tightvnc works great

for any of you that are having problems - you are probably behind a firewall due to your router
google search "port forwarding" and make sure you forward port 5800 and port 5900
hope that helps

also this program can be used to access your computer from anywhere so its pretty handy
