Hey guys,

Got my girlfriends iPhone 3GS and clicked the option to "Open Device to View files" window and got this?:

It is a 16GB? So why on this does it say 27.2GB?

Are you positive the phone is 16Gb and not 32? Settings-General-About...

It seems like it's not something wrong with the iPhone but with the computer.

The computer says 12.9 free while The phone says 12.4, I've had wrong free space availability on iTunes before, usually by a gig or so, what does your iTunes under general tab says?

I don't think you get it? The computer says the iPhone has 27.2 GB capacity. It is a 16GB iPhone.

No I get it, I was just wondering how much free space your iTunes says it's on her phone.
I read the phone and computer, just curious what's on iTunes.

edit: nevermind, guess it doesn't make sense.

Windows was unable to determine the actual capacity, so it gave you an arbitrary number and hoped you wouldn't notice.

You're not the first one to experience this:

I was hoping that Apple used the same storage chips and restricted them and maybe there would be a way to unrestrict them. Hence making me famous. Thanks for nothing, Mindi ;)

Hence Apple charging you $100 every time a 16GB is updated to 32GB. :p
