In the Calamari advertisement the phone knows, which restaurant is the closest. How does it do that? If you check out maps at http://www.apple.com/iphone/internet/ then you do not see a bluetooth icon visible at the right top corner. However on the Calamari advertisement you do see a bluetooth icon in the top right hand corner. http://www.apple.com/iphone/ads/ad3/
Does this mean that we can use bluetooth gps hardware to go with the iPhone?
;)

It may have HERE feature. Like you input your generic starting location.

I think it is unlikely that the first version of the iPhone will include GPS. I think wjp09 is correct that you will be able to program a default starting location into Google Maps. I believe this is what we saw in the Calamari Ad.

As far as Bluetooth GPS receivers, I think we are going to have to wait until the iPhone is opened to 3rd party apps before we can use them. Hopefully one of the turn by turn software makers will make an iPhone version. At this point we can only guess what will happen.

P.S. Welcome to EI :).
