Is she doing this just to spite me?

There are two things I sometimes say to Siri at night, usually in close succession.

I tell her, “Siri, turn on Lower Power Mode.” Then I tell her, “Siri, turn on Night Shift.”

Last night I tried something new.

I said, “Siri, turn on Low Power Mode and Night Shift.” Here’s the screenshot.

Lo and behold, she turned on Low Power Mode. But the words “and Night Shift” went in one ear and out the other.

It’s no secret that Siri is the consummate polyglot. Siri speaks Arabic, Chinese (both Cantonese and Mandarin), Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, and Turkish.

If she’s so adept at so many different languages, why was she unable to understand the very basic English word “and”?

Do you think she secretly understood exactly what I said and did this just to spite me?
