Looks like Sendspace.com has come up with their own little application.

http://www.sendspace.com/download_ishare.html

I'm currently trying to find a Use for it, maybe y'all can help me.

My only gripes with this program is that it doesn't auto fetch your file listing that you have attached to your account id. Rather, you need to log into the site through Safari to retrieve the 6 digit codes that identify your file.

Another thing is you actually have to enter http://www.sendspace.com/, it's not already entered. You should only be required to enter in your 6 digit code, but in all honesty you shouldn't have to even enter in any codes, it should all be handled by the client on the iPhone.

I actually registered on sendspace's website first. They send you a confirmation email that you need to open and click a link in to activate your account.

Try doing the same, i was up and running in just a few minutes.

I emailed Support about my gripes and this is what I received:

Thank you. We will implement this as soon as possible and you should have it
in the next version update.

Please PM me if you're having a login issue, I want to get it solved.
I just got another email from the developers with great news regarding your problem and future updates to this application:

We've uploaded a new version which contains an enhancement to the download URL
field. We now pre-populate it with the beginning of the download URL, saving
you typing.

The error message shown to some people who had difficulties registering has
been extended to provide us with a bit more detail and help determine the exact
cause of the failure. If you were one of the people who had trouble
registering, please try to register for a new account and let us know what
error you get now.

Client file listing and management features will be added to the next release,
hopefully out by Friday.
Since they're trying to solve your problem, you may want to contact them directly by emailing:

customersupport@sendspace.com

Tell them what problem you're experiencing, your feedback is really important to help resolve the issue.

I'm pretty excited, this is turning into a very nice application!

While it's great that they have now pre-populated most of the URL I hope that they don't stop there. It's pretty crude having to type in even a 6 digit random string, particularly without the benefit of copy-and-paste.

Oh yes, when selecting a place to download to only folders should be shown. It seems confusing (to me) to show files as well. Plus it actually lets you select a file as a destination, but uses the folder it is in instead. If they aren't going to let you choose a filename then they should only show folders IMO.

All that said I for one think it is great that this is a native app for an already-existing Web service.

I'm in the same boat as you, I dislike having to enter the URL string for the file, and I especially dislike the fact that I've got to switch in and out of safari to find out what my download url strings even are.

I wrote the devs about this in a real blunt email, lol. It just said,

Please add:

1- internal listing of online sendspace files
2- auto enter http://www.sendspace.com/ in the download text field

They responded the next morning! Apparently they're going to add the features, so this time next week we should be in a new and better boat entirely :)
