No... iToner does not use any of the hacking software... It is a great piece of software from a trustworthy company.

I am using iPhoneringtonemaker and it is great. You can do all the effects (cut, fade, ...etc) and transfer to iPhone without hacking. You can also delete ringtones from the iPhone. The downside is that it only works on Windows so I am using parallels and it works great. It is also cheaper than iToner ($ 10).

iToner is simply amazing for mac...once you have your mp3s made and cut all you need to do is drag drop and sync ... just awesome! and no other software needed!

according to ambrosia's site, it does work with powerpc macs.

not everyone has a new intel mac - if i hadn't had an opportunity i couldn't pass up to get a macbook at a great price, i'd still have my 2003 12" powerbook rocking an 867mhz processor and 640mb of ram!

just got an email from everythingiPhone.com about a software product named itoner (from itoner.com,) that makes ringtones from your mac from mp3s. free 30 day trial, $15 after that. but 30 days is more than long enough to make all the ringtones you want.

it works perfectly with a great interface. just drag an mp3 to the iPhone representation and synch.
it takes a few steps to convert songs from mp3s to ringtone length.

my workflow:

open song in Final Cut Pro. edit length with fade-out. save as quicktime movie.
open in quicktime, export as aiff.
open in audacity, export as mp3.
drag to itoner.

sounds great.

ringtones are no big deal...got on fine without them. but missed "roundabout" from my old phone.

now i have all i want.

cha.

(www.itoner.com is an ink and toner sales company).

Holy waveforms Batman! Are you trying to make it hard on yourself? :)

My workflow:

Open Garageband. Choose song. Edit length. Add fades. Hit share and save as mp3
Drag to iToner.

Works like a champ!

Yeah, but you can't edit a ringtone. You can only upload a whole song as a ringtone, but it would make more sense to edit it so you could, for example, only have the chorus play as the ringtone.

I've tried to download some mp3 editing software to do this (most recently Audacity), but it won't convert to MP3 and thus, won't get accepted by iTuner.

Ugh...any ideas?
