Anyone install the new iTunes 7.6.2 yet? Just curious if it bricks our jailbroken iPhones.

I haven't downloaded it yet but I highly doubt that it will doing anything to brick the iPhone, seeing as that really doesn't occur much these days anyway. It's most likely a simple bug fix.

it wouldn't be legal for Apple to brick our phones even if they are jailbroken. they don't have to offer support for the phone anymore but if iTunes bricked our phones it would be the same as nissan blowing up my car because i installed my own sound system.

exactly. so if it's bricked, you're outa luck. it's all laid out in the EULA, which is a legal document. operative word being "legal"...

It's not iTunes that bricks the phone; it's the owner that updates the firmware that is to blame.

The new version syncs /loads podcasts etc w my 1.1.4 jailbroken phone just fine

but this is weird...everytime i start it it says
"iTunes has detected that it is not the default player for audio files"
(I have made sure on my XP PC that iTunes was my default)
"Do you want to make iTunes the default?"
(So I always click yes)

then an error appears
"An error occurred while updating the default player for audio file types."
"You do not have enough access privileges for this operation"
(I am signed in as the administrator)

7.6.2.9 version.

It plays - syncs -everything else like normal
just a minor inconvenience

any ideas?
thanks

you should be able to tell it to not ask you again (there should be a checkbox for this in that first alert window). it may be that it can't set iTunes as the default for some obscure audio format for whatever reason. if you haven't experienced any issues yet, you probably won't.

of course, it might help to uninstall, and then reinstall.

Thanks Acosmichippo,
sorry in advance for the next stupid question.

If I uninstall and reinstall
all 5000 songs are fine since its just a player/library
and the songs are mine on my pc, right?
And my iPhone settings, podcasts, ringtones too?

again sorry for not knowing much about it
thanks
