I thought it was weird that we didn't have the option to force 2.5G EDGE service on the GSM side, beginning with iOS 5. In the DC metro area, sometimes my old 3GS held onto calls better on EDGE than 3G, and I wish I had the option. Anyone else feel this way? I guess 3G is ubiquitous enough...but I like having the option.

The other nice thing about flipping to 2G when you don't need the faster data is better battery performance.

You don't directly get the option for EDGE, but you can disable 3G which in turn forces the phone to use either GPRS or EDGE.

I hadn't noticed that yet. My coverage is good at home these days, but a couple years ago I would force 2g for better coverage. There is one particular vacation spot we go where I do the same. I will miss that option.
Do you think they listen to requests like these?
