They are saying the 5 screen is better because its brighter and sharper than the 7. I've compared a 5 and a 7 side by side playing the same movie at the same time. The movie was a downloaded comedy clip off the internet so the quality was so-so. The 7 looked way smoother, the blacks looked smoother and the colors way better. The 5 had blocky pixelation everywhere and the colors look washed out... reds looked almost pinkish. The 7 had no pixelation and colors looked perfect. The 7 is better! Don't let people brain wash you into thinking that the 5 is better.

It's a matter of personal preference, I have a 5-series screen and I prefer it over a 7-series any day. I've also compared side-by-side and the 5 looks a million times better...in fact, my friends and even other folks at the Apple store asked me why the screen on my iPhone was better than the iPhones on display.

To each their own, as long as you're happy with yours - doesn't matter.

A million times better?!

I'd love to see this quantified, since I've compared many of both type screens and see nowhere near this amount of difference.

FWIW, I prefer the 7-series screen.

hahah he said a million times better... and I highly doubt the workers at Apple are gonna say "oh wow how is your screen so much better than the displays?" LOL... the 5 has blocky pixelation if you watch average quality movies... the 7 is perfect, smooth, colors are deep and warm... the 5 has a blue hue, washed out, blocky pixelation... the winner: 7!

I've had both versions. I would say that the 5 is a bit sharper, but the 7 has better coloring and contrast. It's just a matter of preference.

I have had several conversations with Apple's support specialists to see if you can identify the LCD type from the serial number (or any other way), and apparently there isn't. I saw 2 iPhones that were manufactured in the same plant during the same week and one was a 5 and the other was a 7. It's a crapshoot.

I have a 5 that I bought for someone that doesn't want to switch to AT&T. It's never been used and still has the plastic on it. I'd sell it at cost (it's worth at least that since you know what you're getting ahead of time).
