Leaving for Paris with iPhone.

It'll be interesting to find out if it really works there.

Anyone have any first hand knowledge that it does?

"Anyone have any 'first hand' knowledge that it does?"

Thanks for the "probably".

I'm looking for real information though.

Great forum as always,

i'm going to france myself next week. i've called AT&T and activated intl'l roaming. it'll be $1.29/min voice and $0.02/min data. pretty steep.

i plan to remove the sim and stick to wifi as much as possible.

okay, that's the kind of thing I need to read...
Thanks for sending your "take" along.

Anyone else heading to France?

It'll be fun to read this thread... if it expands any.

Thank you again for anyone willing to reply
to this thread.

Never mind the charges, etc.

My main "thrust" to the original question here is this:

Does the iPhone work in Paris, France?

Will it work Right now, as you read this?

Yes it will work there. It's a quad band GSM phone. I haven't been there since getting the iPhone but I was there years ago with an early quad band phone (Treo 600) and it work fine. As stated in the early reply you will want to get AT&T to include international roaming first, and don't use data while roaming it will cost an arm and a leg!

Reading your reply, and thanking you
at the same time.

If, as this thread un-rolls, it would be a treat to
know if anyone out there has actually used
an iPhone in Paris, France... to date.

Thank you so much again for your very useful reply.

I see/read how this crowd is...
you're gonna let me find out for myself.

There's no "Europe" Connection here at all?

I'll continue to monitor... and maybe post
a first report! (It's starting to read like.)

To be continued....

John

(Are you using an iPhone in Europe?)
