...for the fallen Golden 64 GB IPhone 6 Plus.

This is why you buy AppleCare+. Which I did. Unfortunately, their repair system is down until 1 AM Pacific Time. So I will try again in a couple hours to complete the claim.

Thanks for caring. I will see to it that this phone receives a proper retirement and burial when it comes time to ship it back to Apple, most likely on Wednesday.

I always hate seeing these pics. Good thing you have AppleCare+. Post back and let me know if they are still waiving the $29 two-day shipping for AppleCare+ customers. Does the phone still work? If so, they might just replace the screen.

Ouch. Can you describe how it happened? How far did it drop and what was the surface?

Yes, it fell from a height of about three feet to the ground and landed face down on the laminate flooring. I had just picked up my wife's iPhone to answer for her and was handing it off to her. I was actually holding both her phone and mine in the same hand and when I released into her, I accidentally let go of both phones. She took hers. Mine went crashing to the floor I was pretty sure when it landed that it had shattered.

She felt bad. But I assured her it was covered. Then I spent a few minutes wondering and trying to remember if I had really bought the coverage. So I pulled out my MacBook and searched my email. Found the notice showing the contract number. And breathed a HUGE sigh of relief.

Do you typically use it without a case? I find the 6 to be too slippery to use without one. I use one of the leather Apple cases. They provide a good amount of grip and are surprisingly protective. I recommend one if you decide to get a non-bulky case. One of the cool things about it is you can still see some of the aluminum at the bottom since that portion is open, so you'll still be able to see the gold.

Good catch. It was about three feet.

And Europa, I don't use a case. I like the gold to be seen. And I figure why buy the case if I'm going to buy AppleCare+ instead.

This is from the email they sent me after I filed the claim:

Express Replacement Service Fee
If your iPhone is covered by AppleCare+, there's no charge for this Express Replacement Service. If your iPhone is not covered by AppleCare+, you will be charged an Express Replacement Service fee of $29.

So, it doesn't look like I should be subject to the $29 fee.

I broke my 6 three times with a case on it so now my Plus has a case and tempered glass and AC+.

What type of case were you using when it broke three times?
Tech 21. When I have AC+ I tend to be pretty rough on my iPhone. The Tech 21 doesn't cover enough. My Speck and tempered glass should prevent most of my stupidity. I figured it out the other day and I have spent $2K on iPhones since it was released. I will just write it off, but still not going to cover the $2K.

I used an Apple leather case that is paired with Zagg Glass. I've had a few drops, but haven't had either the iPhone's display or Zagg Glass shatter. My hope is that should that day come, the Glass will take the brunt of the drop, leaving the iPhone's screen undamaged.

Same here with Apple case. Several drops, but no damage. My preference is to go with a nice leather minimalistic case that that still shows some of the metal and then get Apple Care+ just in case.

Remember that "flight" my Plus took in your hard-tiled living room a few weeks ago? :D

On this topic, has anyone seen an example of Zagg Glass shattering and not the display on the iPhone?
