Like the title says. Little purple arrow on status bar. Has been on since I loaded iOS 5. Is this normal? BTW I am using findmyiPhone through iCloud.

    Thanks in advance.

Mine was too, turned off location service off on reminders and hasn't come back on since.

Try clearing one app at a time from your task manager (double tap home button) and see if you can find the bad app. May require to delete and reload. Can also do this the other way. Close all apps do a reset (home and power button) and see when the arrow reappears.
If you have the " the weather channel" app I am willing to bet that is the one.

Mind did as well until I turned off reminders with location notifications. It was real battery drain.

That's weird. I have all those things turned on and I only get the arrow when needed.

It was foursquare radar. Whatever that is.

Glad you found the culprit. Probably get better battery life too.

I am hoping so. Unplugged at 9am and am down to 58% with light use.
