I recently JB'd my 3gs, does cydia use up a lot of device memory?

Cydia will not load and I do not have access to my laptop. I think low memory is preventing Cydia from loading. Any suggestions?

By low memory are you meaning RAM / program memory? If so, close some apps via the multitasking bar or just reboot the iPhone.

Device memory, I have 54 apps, no photos or videos. Cydia will not open and I cannot add any apps from app store. 8gb iPhone 3gs.

Yes, sorry, storage memory. All apps open except for cydia, but out of storage memory.

Have you actually received the warning popup for the device being out of storage memory? What happens when you try to install a new app?

It sounds like you may already know what the issue is, so I'm not totally sure what you're asking. If the 3GS is out of storage memory then you need to delete some apps you don't need. Or music maybe.

Let us know what's filling your space - have you got 6GB of music on the device? Or just provide more detail.

Well my music is streamed to my device with mspot music. Ive heard of some issues with cydia loading on phones recently and thought maybe it's because of the low memory.

Have you actually got a warning message that the device out of storage memory?

When you last connected to iTunes did it show little or no storage space free?

What happens when you try to install a new app?

It's very near impossible to offer any help if you don't provide basic information.

When I try and download videos I get the warning to delete photos or videos(none on the device). iTunes shows no available memory. Can't download any apps.

OK - so you need to either:

-- Delete some apps

-- Delete some music

-- Or most likely do a restore and start again with apps and jailbreak etc - since from what you've said so far it doesn't sound like you should be out of space.

Yes probably so. Before you do, when you first connect to iTunes you should take a good look at the bottom bar that shows how much space is taken by photos, apps, music etc. - so at least you have a greater understanding of what has caused you to run out of space.

Check the info page in iTunes. If you have an unusually large amount (more than a couple GB) in the Other section, you'll want to restore. This is where the OS and a few other things, such as email, settings and SMS, are stored. If it has a more than a couple GB, there are probably some corrupt video files there taking up space.
