Had the black screen of death for a whole day so went to the genius bar for them to tell me I gotta pay £418 to get a new logic board fitted! It's a late 2008 MacBook pro which I use to make music, and use daily. I'm in a catch 22 now I have to pay the money or no MacBook :-/ I know I could get a new 13 inch pro for £1000 but that's really not in my budget right now :-/ On a plus side I got a new 4s 2 days ago!

If that's the only computer you have and you cannot buy another Mac (and you actually need Macintosh and Windows is not an option) then I'd say you go ahead and fix it till you have enough money to buy a new one later on. Plus, don't they give you warranty when replacing the motherboard with a new, paid-for one?

Yes it's the only computer I own, I'm gonna go ahead and get the work done I think. Do they give you a whole new warranty? If so that would be great!
