Mail not Checking as scheduled?

If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it.

I have my mail set up to check every 15 minutes. I noticed today that I received some GMAIL on my desktop but didn't feel my phone vibrate. I looked at it and there was no number on the mail app, meaning no new mail.

So at 1:15PM I opened the mail app and quickly looked to see when it last synced it it said 9:38AM.

What could the reason be that it's not checking every 15 minutes? BTW I was on the EDGE network.

I've been noticing this as well. It "seems" as if when the phone sleeps (i.e. screen goes black), it just does not check. I know this is not true all the time.... but maybe when on EDGE. Not sure but email checking is very unreliable.

That happened to me. I rebooted the phone (hold Home and Sleep at the same time and hold them until you see the Apple logo, not just the red slider.)

It's been working fine ever since I did that once.
