Does anyone know the significance of an iPhone with a Model number starting with FB? This is under Settings>General>About. All the research I've done indicates that all 3G iPhone model numbers have a MB prefix. I spoke to Apple, and they weren't very helpful, only saying that I could have a "fake" or "unlocked" iPhone, and sent a link to this article.

This is a refurbished 16gb model bought from ATT. Firmware is up to date (2.2.1), but I'm having some slight performance issues compared to my friend's NEW 8gb, which starts with MB.

Any info is much appreciated!

Mine says MB...

...if you're having issues then you should just see a Genius and have it exchanged. Though what kind of 'issues' are you having?

Well, for instance. The guy that sits next to me at work has a new phone, we're both connected to the same wifi, and my youtube videos don't load while he has no probs. I get an error message saying it can't play this video.

The problem will need to be replicable for the Genius to exchange.

I'm not sure what the problem would be though...

White 16gig 3G = MB499LL
Black 16gig 3G = MB048LL

There are many other model numbers the differences are per designation and country.
