Movies on flights - what cradle do you use?

I just used my iPhone on a flight for the first time. I put Planet Earth (2 DVD's) on the iPhone using Handbrake - all thanks to EIC participants for the assist!

The movie quality was amazing, sound was just as good. 2 of us watched using the Monster splitter from Apple Store. We each had our own volume on the splitter.

My question to regular travelers is how do you prop up the iPhone? It would seem that I need a businesss card holder type of device to put the iPhone on? Holding it became very tiresome quickly. I've searched this forum and the internet, but nothing comes up outside of full case protectors with a flip down for movie watching.

Thanks :)

There was one reviewed here about last November, it could hold the phone in Portrait or rotate to landscape.

This is what I use: http://*******.com/2z79l4

I got it from Staples. I even padded it with some felt cutout, just so my beloved iPhone would be nice and cozy in there, but it's quite unnecessary. I will tell you this though, the viewing angle that this particular businesss card holder makes while watching the iPhone is spot-on perfect.

Hi. I fly all the time and this is what I use. I bought the Belkin clear case. It opens up and you place your iPhone inside. It has a belt clip that will swing out like a picture frame stand and lets you set the iPhone on your tray. I also bought cubicle clips and used a twisty off of whatever and made a circular hoop with the twisty and then hooked it with the cubicle hook. You can slide the cubicle hook into the back of the fabric seat in front of you, then slide the belt clip from the Belkin case into the twisty circle. This lets you view your movie more at eye level and works like a charm!

The Belkin is nice. But if I was on an overnight flight, I would want to have a chain attached to it and to me, somebody just walk down the aisle and it is gone, me sitting there drunk and drool out one side like Patrick:p

I just use the DLO hip case that I hold my phone in. Lay in down clip to the table, open the top, sit the phone there so it leans against the case. The Velcro piece keeps it from sliding and the angle it leans at is pretty good. The plus side being I am not spending money for more accessories.

I haven't done it, but if I had such a need, I would make a folding prop pretty easily with a pair of scissors and a thick-enough piece of cardboard (shoe box for example). I'd basically cut a big thick "T" shape out of it with curved edges on the sides. Folded in half, this should support an iPhone if cut properly at the right angles.

Could take some trial and error, but at least the medium isn't expensive. Plus it has the added bonus of taking next to no space in your kit.

i just put mine on the table on an angle over some magazines and on top of my scarf to provide some grip..worked perfectly, i was just kinda annoyed by the people trying to look over at my screen, i know i know..im cool but i need my privacy, especially i was watching Hostel and theyres plenty of nude scenes, so i didn't want to offend anyone or have anyone think i was a perv. would be nice if we had a privacy filter for the iPhone, sorta like the one from 3M for laptops.
