Is that the silent button is on the side. My phone has gone off 3 times in class already.

Not sure what you mean, is the silent slider somehow getting pushed back up?

Odd...Mine has never moved out of place. Not an issue with me, and its in my pocket all the time.

If this is a problem for you with it accidentally getting bumped, I have a rubber case I picked up at Best Buy that covers this switch and it takes a conscious effort to switch it on or off through the rubber.

I am a college instructor and my rule is students will turn their cells OFF in my class, no exceptions. I'd recommend the same for you to avoid distracting noises.

Just curious, what is the penalty if a cell phone sounds off in your classes?

I usually forget to turn my silent button back on. It's fine for me.

Someone's got a broken silent button...

Funny , the same thing happened to me today, except it wasn't a call it was only a text so the noise wasn't as loud. I guess I somehow accidentally pushed the silent button in my pocket.

That's odd. With my original iPhone it was doing the same thing, but with my 3G it has never done that. The silent switch on it is very sturdy and not loose at all (unlike the V1) and can sometimes be hard to switch it on purpose.

my iPhone is ALWAYS on silent. i personally hate ringtones and even custom ringtones. nothing more rude than someone's ringtone coming on and blasting some 50 cent while in class or a meeting. people need to get a clue.

For the most part I agree, but I really like having that alarm ringtone when my mother's calling.
