my email doesn't work after update

Has anyone else had this problem. My email no longer works after today's update. Open mail and it states: Connecting... for ever. ARGHHHHHHHHHH now i have to call Apple support....

I had the exact same problem. Did you ever get it resolved?

I am having a problem were I after I did the restore so I could do the update, I no longer have EDGE or visual voicemail. I spent 30 minutes online with ATT And Apple, I will need to try to do another restore tonight, and see if that fixes it.

after the update, make sure on your setting/email. you put your PASSWORD
because restoring the iPhone will delete the password for voicemail and email

something it seems the update did not fix, it will say loading the message, truth is it is already loaded, hit back to messages then click message again and it loads right up, update did not fix this

the problem seems to be with networking and the Edge. Hopefully they will patch this quickly.

I updated my phone, and it works perfectly. I didn't have input mypasswordd again or anything. What did the update actually do that is noticeable?

Damn!

Stupid iPhone! I reset the phone twice now and I still can't get my IMAP Exchange e-mail to work. This is ridiculous since it was just working last night before I upgraded to the latest release.

Does anyone know if there is a way to roll back to the original firmware?

Fixed!

I reset my Network settings through the 'reset' option in the 'general settings' screen.

After doing that, I relaunched the e-mail application and my previous settings worked like a charm. All of my e-mail downloaded instantly over Edge and Wi-Fi (tested both).

Not sure why this resolved the problem but it must have had something to do with the firmware update changing the network settings.

If you are having similar problems, give this a try.

well mine still doesn't work. i tried your suggestion of the network setting reset - didn't do a thing.

Also just validate i tried both wifi and EDGE. Symptoms as follows:

EDGE: Just states "Connecting...." forever
WIFI: States "Checking for Mail...." forever

I deleted and re-added the account. It confirms that "Exchange account verified". so here is what i have concluded:

1. my account is fine. worked yesterday pre-iphone patch and now doesn't work.
2. it is not an edge only problem, since wifi doesn't work at all.
3. i've tried both imap4 and exchange and neither works.

so now how do i undo the update? If i restore will the update go away?

Sorry to hear about your trouble. Maybe I just got lucky.

You might want to try a full restore where you restore the phone as if it was new, then do the networking reset and try your mail settings one more time.

As far as I've found, there is no way to roll back to the older firmware, unfortunately :-(

tried the restore route - NO LUCK, i still cann't connect. Boy did Apple screw me. i'll be on the phone with support tomorrow for hours no doubt.

well went through Apple support and 2nd tier support. the short of it is that it is going to the development team 3-5 days... sigh.
