Can anyone help me with this problem I connect my iPhone and it can be seen by my pc so that I can save my photos. Tried to backup on iTunes and it won't finish backing up. I would like to update my software and not lose my photos.

Well, you need to go through the "numbers" as it were.
First, was your phone ever seen by your PC? If yes, when did it stop?
    Have you tried the following:
    1) rebooting both Phone and PC.
    2) changing the USB port
    3) changing the cable.
    4) connecting to someone else's PC to see if the phone is recognized there?
    5) uninstalling and then re-installing iTunes (this requires extra instructions, because there is more than just iTunes to uninstall if you have to try this)
Lets start there and see if we can get you going again. If none of this works, there might be a different problem going on.

that's good! that means that you should reinstall iTunes.
You will need to uninstall the following pieces from the system and then reinstall iTunes.
    Apple Application Support
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Apple Software Update
    Bonjour
    and finally iTunes.

Once uninstalled, make sure that you have a fresh copy of iTunes to install and then install and reboot. After that, connect your phone and you should be good to go.
