Is there something about OS X 10.11 El Capitan that's gotten your attention? Was it good, or was it bad?

In the meangtime, here's where you can get the default wallpaper at a very nice (5120 x 3200) resolution. That's good enough for a retina iMac without necessitating upscaling.

I'm going to love the more advanced search option on the Mac, being able to search how I want to, with more detailed information of the results I want.

I dislike the name. What's next? OS X Grand Canyon? :D

I like the automatic split screen feature, or Split View mode I think it's called. That will be very handy.

The new feature that enlarges the cursor when you wake your Mac will be appreciated too, especially on particularly groggy mornings.

I think they said they are sticking with California locations. So more like OS X Death Valley. :D

I highly dislike the name, too. The only adjective I can think of to describe the sound of El Capitan, is "staccato"… whereas Yosemite, on the other hand, rolls right off the tongue. I tend to think Spanish words don't sound too nice coming out of an American mouth, as might, for example, German words.

As far as features, I was happy to learn that in El Cap. we will be able to move and resize the Spotlight Search window. I thought it was ridiculous to make its location fixed in the first place.

I am cautiously excited that the Metal framework is coming to OS X. Federighi seemed to be promising improved UI responsiveness speeds, but I'll believe that when I see it—especially on my aging late 2009 iMac.

Can't. There's no escape key support.

You don't need the escape key. Just ask this dude for the workaround:

Naw. He's was in Dannemora. I've been in that prison twice and I got out. Wasn't any big thing. ;)

Apple has unleashed the fifth public beta of OS X El Capitan to public beta testers today.

Update: Apple has un-unleashed the fifth public beta of OS X El Capitan. Something must have been very rotten. I will update this post as more news become available.

Elsewhere on the Internet, "rybak17" got his hands on the software before it was pulled and noted that the OS X logo in About This Mac has changed. It is now colorful and cheerful whereas it was previously black and white, and drab:

I like the logo change. I'm all for color when it's used correctly and its aesthetically pleasing.

How is gaming coming along on the Mac? Now that Metal has been improved from its initial launch, will we see more games being supported? I haven't been convinced that the Mac is ready for gaming without software like Crossover or Parallels, Boot camp, etc.

We should wait and see if someone jumps in and answers that… I'm afraid I'm not much of a gamer and therefore don't have a good answer.

Additionally, I recently learned that my late 2009 iMac won't support Metal.

The 5th public beta is back. I am installing it now.

Well....it says it's back in my App Store but it doesn't do much when I click to update.

    @Rafagon

It's updating now once I pressed Update instead of Update All.

My iMac that I don't use a lot yet says 4-7 hours on installing the beta. :p
