I had no idea, I was thinking it was gonna be like 50 or so, but 4,000? That is astonishing.

We know iPhone developers are working hard o applications for the soon to be released Apple iPhone 3G, however we were somewhat surprised to find out the approximately 4,000 applications are lined up ready to pounce on the iPhone 3G just after it comes out on 11th July.

MIMvista's application is just one of the 4,000 applications being developed specifically to run on the iPhone (BusinessWeek.com, 6/9/08).

If this is right, this is great news - and I agree, more than expected right at the outset.

I wonder a little about the 4,000 number though - that is also the reported number of developers accepted so far by Apple. That may not mean they all have an app ready on Day 1 ...

You'll just have to be very selective.;)
its killing me, im already selective with what i can put on it, i went on a trip to disneyland last year and was changing stuff around at food stops and hotels... that was annoying.

Maybe we can't use the iPhone for music or video at ALL... compared with using those exciting new APPS!

At the dev conference last month, they posted a number of over 8,000 WEBAPPS already released or ready for release. So I wouldn't be so sure all of those will be what you consider "apps."

Remember that via 3G, webapps can get a bit fancier than what you currently see out there.

I do know that one of my favorite apps is coming to the iPhone and for thatreason alone I'm getting an iPhone on July 11th. That app is Pocket Informant. Also hoping that Splash ID, and Splash Money get on the iPhone as well.

SplashID, Splash Money, Splash Shopper are coming to the App Store - see here for some details.

Think SplashID is said to be ready to go for July 11th ...

After I get a ridiculously large number of apps I'm not going to have enough room left on the iPhone to actually put media.

That's the worst thing about the iPhone. Don't get me wrong, I love the iPhone, but the memory is a big problem for me. I watch a lot of TV so I download a lot of movies an TV episodes (I guess). I got about 20 gb of it on iTunes. This is the one thing keeping me from getting a 3G. I had to be very selective with my videos and i hated that because i only have an 8gb iPhone. At leasts with app store, I won't need many apps.

Guys, you do realize most of these apps are going to be very, very tiny. I consider myself a relative whore when it comes to jailbreak apps and I haven't filled up over 400 MB. Most apps are under 1MB. Only the virtual instruments with their sample packs get up towards 10MB or more.

Y'all will run out of money before you run out of space, even with an 4 gigger.
