Just started this morning. Tried to do a restore w/ iTunes but iTunes does not see the phone when plugged in to USB cord on computer. also there is an icon in the upper right corner near the battery gauge that looks like a padlock with a circle around it?

The lock symbol in the status bar just means that the portrait mode rotation lock is on. When it's on, turning the phone sideways won't put it in landscape mode. To turn this lock off, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to invoke Control Center and click the rotation lock toggle.

Try using another USB port on your computer and a different USB Lightning cable (if you have one). Reboot the phone and the computer and then try to restore. If iTunes still doesn't recongize the phone, put the phone in DFU mode and then restore.
