Just got mine in, and can't recommend it enough. It's a thin shell that covers the back, and a smart cover type front. It even has the magnet in the cover so it turns the screen on and off just like an actual Apple smart cover. Also comes in a bunch of different colors. Really can't beat it for 6 bucks (free shipping if you have amazon prime).

As good as anything else short of an otterbox or lifeproof or something. feels great.

how much weight does it add to the mini?

That was my main concern. It is extremely light and low-profile. In fact, I find it easier to hold the mini now that there's a leatherized texture to grip.

One more possibly dumb question..
does the cover come off? or is it attached to the back of the case
it looks like it would be difficult to hold in your left hand w/ the cover folded behind the ipad

it snaps on securely, haven't had any problems with it coming off, but it is easy to get off when you want it to.

holding it on the left isn't a big deal. at least not any more than any other folio-style case or Smart Cover.
